The 1500-or-so people that always vote for kind-of-conservative candidates but never for Mark, may well get, if the vote doesn’t turn around in Mark’s favor, what they voted for, milquetoast. Not a big deal, you say, because the “kind-of-conservatives” have a majority on the Federal Way Council anyway? True but majorities anywhere have a way of dissipating quickly and surprisingly often, a sudden resignation here, a la Erica Norton, yet another one there on the heels of that one and before the “kind-of-conservatives” have a chance to fill the earlier vacancy, and presto, a tie vote for a would-be appointee, broken by Ferrell, and suddenly Federal Way has a “progressive” Council again. You always want bigger numbers on your side no matter how great and secure you think the “already” numbers are.
